Chesterbrook Shopping Center marked the completion of its renovation with a “Friendsgiving” celebration Friday, Nov. 14, showcasing a growing mix of new stores, restaurants and community attractions.

Visitors to the center at 6224 Old Dominion Drive in McLean could browse three new women’s shops, play Porkchop Speedway, pose for photos in a red 1950s pickup truck and sample spanakopita from longtime tenant Milo’s Grill. The Anthony Pocetti duo provided live jazz, while alpacas and baby goats scheduled to appear were delayed in traffic.

Federal Realty had managed and leased the property for 19 years before acquiring an 80% interest in April 2021, according to Senior Marketing Director Sarah North. The company announced a comprehensive renovation plan the following year.

New tenants began arriving during the redevelopment. Kosmo Nail Bar opened in November 2022, followed by South Block in March 2023 and J. McLaughlin in May 2023.

The revamped center now includes Sorn Thai, neighborhood bagel shop Call Your Mother, SkinSpirit, three women’s retailers and the first permanent home of the McLean Art Gallery. They join established businesses including Safeway and Milo’s Grill.

Surfside is expected to open in the spring, with more merchants planned for 2026.
