Miller’s Furs has remained a fixture on Leland Street in Chevy Chase since 1921, preserving traditional furrier services while adapting older garments for modern wardrobes.
The family-owned shop sells natural-fur and fur-trimmed clothing, including mink coats, fox-trimmed capes, sheared beaver pieces and cashmere garments. Its Encore Select collection offers pre-owned vintage and classic items at a lower cost than many new pieces.
Much of the shop’s work happens beyond the sales floor. Its furriers can restyle inherited or outdated garments, turning a traditional mink coat into a different silhouette or converting one into a reversible raincoat. These alterations allow owners to continue wearing pieces that might otherwise remain in storage.
Miller’s also provides climate-controlled seasonal storage, professional cleaning and conditioning, repairs, lining replacements and appraisals for insurance or resale. Combined cleaning and storage cost about $105.
Those services are intended to protect fur from summer heat and humidity while maintaining its natural oils and texture. They also support customers who return with the same garment each season or bring in coats once worn by relatives.
After more than a century in business, Miller’s continues to center its operation on durable clothing, specialized craftsmanship and long-term garment care. The shop is located at 4620 Leland St. in Chevy Chase.
