PFC Kyoung Pak was named the Sully District Police Station’s Officer of the Quarter for July through September, following an investigation that led to felony child-abuse and domestic-assault charges.
Pak received the recognition during the station’s Citizens Advisory Committee meeting on Oct. 8. Sgt. Stewart Struthers, supervisor of the Midnights A Squad, nominated him for the award.
On Sept. 5, Sully District officers responded to a reported domestic assault involving a young child. Police were told the child had been struck repeatedly with a belt and suffered visible injuries, including a bloody nose. The child and alleged offender had left before officers arrived.
Pak took charge of the investigation and arrested the suspect after the person returned. According to Struthers’ nomination, Pak conducted an interview that produced a full confession and then obtained warrants for domestic assault and felony child abuse. The suspect was held without bond.
Struthers credited Pak’s work with holding the alleged offender accountable and helping protect the child.
Pak’s activity during the quarter also included five DUI arrests, seven felony arrests and 29 misdemeanor arrests. Struthers praised his investigative ability, professionalism, positive attitude and commitment to community safety.
