A 28-year-old man faces a federal firearms charge after authorities say he repeatedly fired a handgun outside CIA headquarters during an hours-long barricade Wednesday morning. He allegedly fired several rounds at the facility before shooting himself.

Former U.S. Attorney Jessica D. Aber was found dead Saturday, March 22, in Alexandria. Police responding to a report of an unresponsive woman in the 900 block of Beverley Drive at about 9:18 a.m. pronounced the 43-year-old former Eastern District of Virginia prosecutor dead at the scene.

In Fairfax Station, investigators are working to determine what caused a house fire Saturday afternoon in the 7100 block of Laketree Drive. All occupants evacuated safely, and no civilians or firefighters were injured.

The region’s restaurant industry is warning that financial pressures and federal actions could lead to closures as costs rise and customers cut spending. A recent Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington survey found that 44% of full-service casual restaurants responding said they were somewhat or very likely to close in 2025.

Fairfax County welcomed 75 new citizens during a naturalization ceremony Thursday at the Government Center. County election workers and the League of Women Voters helped all 75 register to vote, along with several citizens attending the ceremony.

Forever 21 is preparing to close its U.S. stores through liquidation sales while continuing online operations during the wind-down. The retailer has six Northern Virginia locations: Arlington, Fairfax, Leesburg, Springfield, Woodbridge and Dulles Town Center.
