The CIA has purchased a 434,000-square-foot office building near Dulles International Airport for $246 million, expanding its presence at a campus where it has leased space for years.
Fairfax County property records show that Dulles Discovery 2, located at 13870 Air and Space Museum Parkway, sold on May 29. The buyer used a pseudonym tied to the same exclusive ZIP code as the McLean-based intelligence agency.
Neither the CIA nor Peterson Companies, the developer of the Dulles Discovery complex, commented on the deal.
The 10-story building was completed in 2010 during the office park’s second phase of development. The purchase is reportedly the CIA’s largest acquisition at the campus.
It follows another apparent agency purchase nearby. On Jan. 4, 2024, the CIA bought what appears to be the Dulles Discovery 3 parking lot on Historic Sully Way for more than $9 million.
Dulles Discovery currently consists of five buildings totaling 1.8 million square feet. Its newest building was completed last year and added 514,000 square feet of rentable space.
A planned sixth phase would expand the campus to 2.8 million square feet.
