A special education teacher at Cooper Middle School faces criminal charges following accusations of unlawful contact with a student, Fairfax County police announced.
Eliseo Perez, 35, of King George, turned himself in Thursday and was charged with two counts of simple assault. He is being held on a $4,000 bond.
The investigation began June 4 when school administrators received concerns about a teacher’s behavior. The Fairfax County Police Department’s Child Abuse Squad took over the case and determined that Perez had inappropriate contact with a student on two occasions in May.
Perez, employed as a teacher since 2025, was placed on administrative leave after school officials learned of the allegations. He has since been suspended without pay.
Victim specialists have been assigned to assist the student and connect them with resources.
