Families affected by the deadly midair collision between a passenger jet and a military helicopter near Reagan National Airport are pressing the Army for greater transparency and action. Dozens of relatives said in a letter to the Army’s top official that the service has avoided accountability and oversight in the months since the crash.

The organization’s June 14 “No Kings” rallies, part of a nationwide anti-Trump protest movement, drew an estimated 2,000 people.
Falls Church officials are considering allowing public safety aides to issue parking tickets, direct traffic and respond to abandoned vehicles. Current city code reserves parking and traffic-control duties for sworn law enforcement officers.
Visitors will have to wait until December to see George Washington’s fully renovated mansion at Mount Vernon. Parts of the building have been closed since November during a comprehensive restoration project that began in 2019. The mansion, except for its cellar, is scheduled to remain open during the final construction phase from December through September 2026.
Fairfax County Public Schools Adult and Community Education is accepting scholarship applications from current and prospective students pursuing skilled-trades careers. The $1,000 awards can be applied to apprenticeship classes beginning in the fall. Applications are due Aug. 15.
