Eataly confirmed July 22 that it plans to open its first Washington, D.C.-region location at Tysons Corner Center in 2027.
The two-level venue is planned to include seated restaurants, quick-service counters and a specialty marketplace selling products made in Italy. Eataly has not announced a more specific opening date or season.
In its announcement, the company said the Tysons location would give visitors opportunities to “eat, shop, and learn.” The combination of dining and retail is expected to place several parts of the Eataly concept within one venue.
“Eataly will occupy a prominent two-level space, featuring both interior access from the shopping center and a dedicated exterior entrance,” the company said in its press release.
Eataly identified the site as the former American Girl space. American Girl vacated the two-story location in January 2026, and work to prepare the space for new tenants was underway by the time Eataly announced its plans on July 22.
The announcement formally confirmed Eataly’s involvement. Before July 22, neither Eataly nor Tysons Corner Center owner Macerich had publicly confirmed the project, although permit applications had offered earlier indications of the company’s plans.
One question about the tenant lineup remains unresolved. A building plan submitted to Fairfax County reportedly depicts Chinese hot-pot restaurant Haidilao in the former American Girl space. The available information does not explain how that plan relates to Eataly’s announcement or establish whether Haidilao would be part of the Eataly development, a separate tenant or an earlier proposal.
The identities of any other restaurants expected to occupy the food-hall development also had not been officially announced when Eataly confirmed the project. That leaves the company’s broad mix of restaurants, counters and specialty retail as the clearest available description of what visitors can expect.
At the time of the announcement, Eataly reported operating 69 locations in 16 countries. That total included 20 stores in the United States and Canada. The Tysons project would extend the company’s presence to the Washington region for the first time.
For now, the timeline remains limited to 2027. Further announcements will be needed to establish an opening date and clarify the venue’s restaurant lineup, including how the reported county plan involving Haidilao fits with Eataly’s confirmed use of the space.
