Eight players from Fairfax County high schools joined Hampden-Sydney College’s football team for the 2024 fall season, with three making significant contributions for the Division III program.
McLean High School graduate Kaelan Ferris led the local group. The freshman running back appeared in eight games, rushing 26 times for 140 yards. His longest run covered 45 yards.
Ferris also caught three passes for 27 yards and returned one kickoff for 23 yards. His strongest rushing performance came against Guilford College, when he gained 87 yards on 11 carries.
Before attending Hampden-Sydney, Ferris earned all-Liberty District honors at McLean and rushed for well over 1,000 yards during his high school career.
West Potomac High School graduate Cam Jackson played six games as a sophomore defensive back. He recorded 11 tackles and broke up three passes.
Senior offensive lineman Gabe Menjivar, a Lewis High School graduate, also appeared in six games.
Two more West Potomac graduates were on the roster: freshman safety Mason Hopper and sophomore linebacker Charlie Armstrong.
The other Fairfax County players were freshman running back Jack Rubino from Lake Braddock, junior defensive lineman Jacob McKinney from West Springfield and freshman offensive lineman Andrew Lampe from Chantilly.
Hampden-Sydney finished the season 5-5 overall and 3-4 in conference play.
