Vienna’s Green Expo will bring more than 40 local exhibitors to the Vienna Community Center on Thursday, April 23, offering practical ways to save money and live more sustainably.
The free community event runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at 120 Cherry St. SE. Exhibitors will share information about planting native species, removing invasive plants, raising chickens, keeping bees, composting, conserving water and improving household energy efficiency.
New this year, the Electric Vehicle Association of Greater Washington will answer questions about EV ownership and display electric vehicles for visitors to examine up close.
Mayor Linda Colbert will host a “Meet the Mayor” table, giving attendees an opportunity to speak with her about Vienna.
Returning attractions include an outdoor sheep and lamb exhibit sponsored by Lamb Mowers. Wildlife experts from the nonprofit volunteer organization Secret Garden Birds & Bees will also present live birds of prey, including owls and hawks.
Children can complete activities and collect stickers from exhibits for a Green Expo passport. Attendees will also have chances to receive giveaways such as backyard composters, countertop compost bins, insulated reusable grocery bags and a rain barrel.
The Town of Vienna Conservation and Sustainability Commission sponsors the event.
