Falls Church has postponed Civic Jam because of an extended stretch of extreme heat forecast for the region. The event, originally scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, will now take place Friday, July 24.
The Office of Emergency Management, city manager, and Recreation and Parks Department made the decision to protect attendees, staff, vendors, performers, and other participants.
Civic Jam is a new community celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Plans for the Cherry Hill Park event include live local music, food and drinks, community booths, inflatable attractions, yard games, and the all-ages Civic Cup Competition.
The city said the list of participating organizations, vendors, and performers will be updated as arrangements for the rescheduled event are finalized. Residents were also urged to review summer safety guidance and information about heat-related illness.
