Fairfax County’s Biggest Book Club Takes On an Austen Classic

Fairfax County readers are heading to Regency-era England this fall as the public library’s annual community reading program turns its attention to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

Fairfax County readers are heading to Regency-era England this fall as the public library’s annual community reading program turns its attention to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

The 1813 novel was selected for All Fairfax Reads in recognition of what would have been Austen’s 250th birthday. The countywide program invites residents to share a reading experience without requiring formal book-club discussions.

Known for its romance, humor and observations about class, Pride and Prejudice remains one of Austen’s most popular and frequently adapted works.

Fairfax County Public Library will host related events throughout September and October for longtime Austen enthusiasts and casual readers alike. The library has also assembled recommendations for similar books.

Print copies are available at library branches, while ebook and audiobook editions can be borrowed through Libby. Readers can find the event calendar and related reading list at bit.ly/FCPL_AllFairfaxReads.
