Victor Hoskins will leave his role as president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority this fall, returning to the private sector after six years leading the organization.

During his tenure, FCEDA helped secure nearly 64,000 jobs, facilitated more than 10.5 million square feet of commercial office space and more than 4 million square feet of data centers, and assisted over 13,000 small businesses, according to the authority. FCEDA also reported generating nearly $5 billion in earned media.

Fairfax County’s gross domestic product grew by more than $47 billion during the same period, reaching $177 billion.

Companies that announced Fairfax County locations or expansions under Hoskins’ leadership included Microsoft, Google, Meta, Volkswagen Group of America, StarKist, Amentum, Guidehouse, Qualtrics, Alarm.com, Hilton, Clark Construction, Blue Origin, V2X and The Aerospace Corporation.

James Quigley, chairman of the FCEDA Commission, called Hoskins an exceptional economic leader who guided the county through an intensely competitive and complicated period. He credited Hoskins with attracting innovative companies, creating jobs, strengthening major industries and improving Fairfax County’s standing in the global economy.

Hoskins also promoted cooperation across Northern Virginia and the broader Washington region. He helped form the Northern Virginia Economic Development Alliance with neighboring jurisdictions and expanded partnerships with regional groups including Connected DMV.

As a member of the Connected DMV board, Hoskins supported the Quantum World Congress, which FCEDA helped establish. The event has grown to include more than 1,500 quantum-sector leaders from 31 countries. He also backed the inaugural spaceNEXT conference, intended to strengthen the region’s position in quantum and space innovation.

A workforce initiative funded by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors six years ago became another major effort during Hoskins’ tenure. Working with nearby jurisdictions, employers and more than 100 colleges and universities, the initiative has engaged over 17,000 employers and connected more than 500,000 job seekers with opportunities.

Quigley said Fairfax County enters its next phase with a diversified economy, a strong talent pipeline and regional partnerships developed under Hoskins.

The FCEDA Commission plans to begin searching for its next president and CEO soon. A commission-led committee will oversee the process, with a successor expected to be announced later this year.
