Fairfax Libraries Honor 19 Standout Volunteers

Fairfax County Public Library honored 19 volunteers for their longevity and exceptional service during its April 9 board meeting at George Mason Regional Library.

Fairfax County Public Library honored 19 volunteers for their longevity and exceptional service during its April 9 board meeting at George Mason Regional Library.

The recognition came during National Volunteer Month as part of the library system’s annual Star Volunteer Awards. Employees nominate volunteers whose contributions have made a notable difference across library branches and operations.

The awards underscore the scale of volunteer support behind the system’s 23 branches, which serve more than 1 million people. Last year, more than 1,200 volunteers contributed over 78,000 hours while also promoting the value of public libraries throughout the community.

Four people received awards for completing 1,000 hours of service:
