Fairfax County Public Schools and Metrobus are returning to normal operations Thursday, Feb. 13, as warmer temperatures improve road and sidewalk conditions across the region.
All Fairfax County public schools and offices will open on time following an earlier snow day. Metrobus will resume regular service at 4 a.m., with all 193 routes operating on their usual schedules. Metrorail and MetroAccess will also provide normal service.
Rain is expected to end before 10 a.m., followed by increasingly sunny skies and a high near 52 degrees. South winds will turn northwest at 6 to 13 mph, with gusts reaching 23 mph. Thursday night will be mostly clear, with temperatures falling to around 26.
Investigations and court cases
An airport dispatcher has admitted illegally recording surveillance footage that showed deceased victims of the fatal midair crash near Reagan National Airport the previous month, according to police.
The Maryland man allegedly captured photos and videos as victims were transferred from a first-responder boat to a staging area at the airport, a criminal complaint says.
In a separate case, Reston resident Matthew Coble has been sentenced to at least seven years in prison for multiple sex crimes in Arlington. Circuit Court Judge Daniel S. Fiore II imposed the sentence Friday after Coble was convicted of aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties with a minor.
The Virginia attorney general’s office was also hit by what officials described as a sophisticated cyberattack Wednesday. The incident forced Attorney General Jason S. Miyares’ agency to shut down computer systems and use paper court filings while Virginia State Police and the FBI investigate.

Planning for the next Taste of Annandale will begin with a public meeting at 6 p.m. March 5 at the Mason Government Center. The festival is scheduled for Sept. 20 at the Eileen Garnett Civic Space, 7200 Columbia Pike.
Tysons residents Ed and Helen Okunak are celebrating 65 years together. Ed, 80, and Helen, 81, began dating in 1960 when they were juniors at Lyndhurst High School in New Jersey.
