Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Michelle Reid closed out spring break with a brief message encouraging employees to enjoy the remaining time away before returning for the final months of the school year.
In her April 6 reflection, Reid said she hoped FCPS staff members had opportunities to spend time outdoors with friends and family during the break. With spring break coinciding with a holiday weekend for many people, she deliberately kept her weekly message short so employees could continue making the most of their time off.
Reid also looked ahead to supporting students through the remainder of the academic year. She praised the planning, dedication and careful work of employees serving in different roles throughout the school division.
Spring, she wrote, offers a reminder of the value of change and growth. Reid said the FCPS community has much to celebrate after reflecting on its accomplishments of recent years and the opportunities still ahead.
She concluded with a favorite spring passage from Charlotte Brontë about greenness returning to brown garden beds and leaving brighter signs of hope each morning.
