Fairfax Schools Seek Advisers for Two Key Facilities Planning Seats

Fairfax County residents have until February 21, 2025, to apply for two openings on the Facilities Planning Advisory Council, which helps shape long-term plans for school facilities.

Fairfax County residents have until February 21, 2025, to apply for two openings on the Facilities Planning Advisory Council, which helps shape long-term plans for school facilities.

The available seats represent the Braddock and Franconia magisterial districts. Both appointments expire June 30, 2025, and council members may be reappointed.

The 13-member council advises Fairfax County Public Schools staff and the School Board on comprehensive facilities planning. Its membership includes one representative from each Fairfax County magisterial district, three at-large representatives and one member from the City of Fairfax. Members are appointed to three-year terms.

Applicants must live in the district they seek to represent. FCPS particularly encourages people with experience in construction, engineering, architecture, land-use planning, development, demographics, government operations or financing to apply.
