The Fairfax County School Board is seeking community members to fill four seats on the Facilities Planning Advisory Council, which helps guide long-term planning for school facilities.

Open positions include representatives for the Braddock, Franconia and Mount Vernon magisterial districts, along with an at-large seat associated with McDaniel.

The 13-member council advises Fairfax County Public Schools staff and the School Board on comprehensive facility plans. Its membership includes one representative from each Fairfax County magisterial district, three at-large members and one representative from the City of Fairfax.

The new appointees will serve three-year terms beginning Aug. 1, 2025, and ending July 31, 2028.

FCPS is particularly encouraging applications from people with experience in construction, engineering, architecture, land-use planning, development, demographics, government operations or financing.

Applicants for district seats must live in the district they seek to represent. Any resident of Fairfax County or the City of Fairfax may apply for the at-large position.

The priority application deadline is June 16, 2025. Applications must be submitted to [email protected] by the deadline.
