Lindsay D’Imperio returned to Fairfax County Public Schools as a teacher after spending her own childhood in the division’s classrooms.
Now a fourth grade teacher at Forest Edge Elementary School, D’Imperio attended Poplar Tree Elementary School, Rocky Run Middle School and Chantilly High School, graduating in 2019. She said the supportive teachers she encountered inspired her to pursue the same career.
Those educators challenged her, helped shape who she became and demonstrated how much caring teachers can influence their students, D’Imperio said.
Her work at Forest Edge has focused on helping students develop academically, socially and emotionally. In 2025, she was named a finalist for the FCPS Outstanding New Elementary Teacher award.
Principal Brittany Rogers said D’Imperio has created a classroom where students are eager to learn. Her lessons encourage collaboration, higher-level questions and movement as students practice new skills.
D’Imperio has also prioritized communication and relationships with students, families and colleagues. Rogers said parents value her openness, dedication and regular updates about their children’s progress.
Supported by the Forest Edge community during her first few years in the profession, D’Imperio said teaching in FCPS has brought her journey full circle. She is proud to give back to the school system that contributed to her development while creating meaningful experiences for a new generation of Fairfax County students.
