Falls Church is seeking a development team to preserve and potentially expand affordable housing at Virginia Village, with proposals due Thursday, August 6, 2026.
The city issued a request for proposals on June 30 to identify a future owner, ground lessee or developer for properties held by its Economic Development Authority. The project is intended to advance the neighborhood vision outlined in the Comprehensive Plan.
Officials expect firms to offer a range of creative approaches to meeting the city’s affordable housing goals.
Questions are due July 13. A virtual pre-proposal conference is scheduled for July 21, followed by a weather-dependent guided site tour on July 22.
The city plans to evaluate proposals in August and September. An evaluation committee, assisted by real estate consultant Jones Lang LaSalle, is expected to recommend a preferred team to the City Council in early September. The council anticipates making its final selection in the fall.
The council authorized the request for proposals on June 22 after months of public discussion about Virginia Village and the future of the publicly owned properties.
