A driver died Saturday afternoon after a Toyota sedan struck the rear of a legally parked tractor-trailer at the eastbound Interstate 66 rest area near Manassas. Virginia State Police said the car caught fire following the collision.
A federal judge on Friday blocked Virginia from enforcing a social media law that required age verification and limited users younger than 16 to one hour per day. The measure, signed by former Gov. Glenn Youngkin, took effect Jan. 1 and was challenged by technology trade group NetChoice.
In Annandale, a woman suffered life-threatening injuries after a vehicle struck her near John Marr Drive and Ravensworth Road on Saturday, Feb. 28. John Marr Drive closed during the investigation and reopened shortly before 9 p.m.
A retired electrician won $1 million with a Powerball ticket purchased Dec. 13 at Express 1 Food Mart, 4713 Backlick Road in Annandale. The Virginia Lottery identified the winner Feb. 24, reporting that he took a month to realize the ticket was a winner.
