Fairfax County Public Schools athletes closed the 2025 spring season with a sweeping collection of state honors, including five team championships and 17 individual or relay titles in Virginia High School League Class 6 competition.

Five FCPS teams captured VHSL championships, while five others finished as state runners-up. Athletes and relay teams also earned 20 runner-up finishes. FCPS schools added more honors in crew and rifle, which are not VHSL sports.

Five teams claim VHSL championships

The 2025 Class 6 team champions were:

  • South County High School — girls outdoor track and field
  • Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology — girls tennis
  • Langley High School — boys tennis
  • West Potomac High School — boys lacrosse
  • Herndon High School — boys soccer

The team runners-up were:

  • West Springfield High School — boys outdoor track and field
  • Oakton High School — girls tennis
  • Madison High School — boys tennis
  • Madison High School — girls lacrosse
  • South County High School — girls soccer

Athletes and relays earn 17 titles

FCPS recorded the following individual, doubles and relay championships:

  • Jacqueline Bullock, Chantilly High School — girls pole vault
  • Michael Murray, West Springfield High School — boys pole vault
  • Apria Smith, Chantilly High School — girls triple jump
  • Chris Hwang, Chantilly High School — boys discus
  • Mia Mason, South County High School — girls 100-meter dash
  • West Springfield High School — girls 4x800-meter relay
  • West Springfield High School — boys 4x800-meter relay
  • Caroline Elliot, South Lakes High School — girls 1,600-meter run
  • South County High School — girls 4x100-meter relay
  • Julia Wallace, South County High School — girls 400-meter dash
  • Harry Economon, Robinson Secondary School — boys 400-meter dash
  • Caroline Elliot, South Lakes High School — girls 800-meter run
  • South County High School — girls 4x400-meter relay
  • Robinson Secondary School — boys 4x400-meter relay
  • Josh Vargas and Julian Albisu, Madison High School — boys tennis doubles
  • Avery Huang, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology — girls tennis singles
  • Avery Huang and Karis Kim, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology — girls tennis doubles

The individual, doubles and relay runners-up were:

  • Max Tuttle, West Potomac High School — boys high jump
  • Mia Mason, South County High School — girls long jump
  • Blake Jackson, South Lakes High School — boys triple jump
  • Caden Green, Madison High School — boys discus
  • Sierra Sommers, West Springfield High School — girls shot put
  • Chris Hwang, Chantilly High School — boys shot put
  • Mia Mason, South County High School — girls 100-meter hurdles
  • Finn Middleton, South Lakes High School — boys 110-meter hurdles
  • South Lakes High School — girls 4x800-meter relay
  • Mia Mason, South County High School — girls 200-meter dash
  • Christian Turner, South County High School — boys 200-meter dash
  • Danny McGlynn, Centreville High School — boys 3,200-meter run
  • Petra Gruendel, Robinson Secondary School — girls 1,600-meter run
  • South County High School — boys 4x100-meter relay
  • Hadley Vanek, Woodson High School — girls 800-meter run
  • Robinson Secondary School — girls 4x400-meter relay
  • West Springfield High School — boys 4x400-meter relay
  • Arnav Talreja and Jonah Treitler, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology — boys tennis doubles
  • Sarah Patel, Oakton High School — girls tennis singles
  • Sarah Patel and Natalie Leong, Oakton High School — girls tennis doubles

Crew programs collect more trophies

Robinson Secondary School won both the women’s and men’s Division 2 Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association Trophy Point championships.

FCPS boats won the following crew events:

  • McLean High School — men’s N-4+
  • Madison High School — women’s Fr-4+
  • Justice High School — women’s Jr-4x
  • Langley High School — women’s 4-8+
  • Woodson High School — women’s N-8+
  • McLean High School — women’s Fr-8+
  • Langley High School — men’s Fr-8+
  • Langley High School — women’s 3-8+
  • Robinson Secondary School — women’s 2-4+
  • South County High School — men’s 2-4+
  • Robinson Secondary School — women’s Jr-8+
  • Woodson High School — women’s 2-8+
  • Madison High School — men’s 2-8+
  • South County High School — men’s 1-4+
  • Robinson Secondary School — women’s 1-4+

Crew runner-up honors went to:

  • West Springfield High School — VASRA men’s Division I Point Trophy
  • Langley High School — VASRA men’s Division II Point Trophy
  • Oakton High School — VASRA women’s Division II Point Trophy
  • Justice High School — VASRA women’s Division III Point Trophy
  • Justice High School — men’s 4x
  • Oakton High School — men’s N-4+
  • Robinson Secondary School — women’s N-8+
  • Robinson Secondary School — men’s N-8+
  • Woodson High School — men’s Fr-8+
  • Robinson Secondary School — men’s 2-4+
  • Langley High School — men’s Jr-8+
  • Robinson Secondary School — men’s 1-4+
  • McLean High School — men’s 1-8+

Justice High School also earned a silver medal in the girls junior quad at the SRAA Scholastic National Championship Regatta.

Robinson wins regional rifle championship

Robinson Secondary School captured the Potomac High School Rifle League Regional Championship, with Lake Braddock Secondary School finishing second.

Diana Leppert of Lake Braddock won the individual rifle title. Samuel Nickless of Robinson was the individual runner-up.
