Fairfax County Public Schools’ Boundary Review Advisory Committee examined school assignment data and tested hypothetical enrollment changes during its March 26 meeting at the Gatehouse Administration Center.
Janice Szymanski, chief of Facilities Services and Capital Programs, opened the meeting and reviewed feedback on group norms from the committee’s previous session.
Committee members then received a demonstration of the Frontline Location Analytics platform. Two hypothetical examples showed how the system can visualize potential enrollment changes: moving sixth-grade students to middle school without changing boundaries, and having all high school students attend their assigned base school without adjusting boundaries.
Officials emphasized that neither example represented a proposal currently under consideration. They were used only to help committee members understand the platform.
Thru Consulting also presented baseline data covering split feeder patterns, attendance islands and school capacity. Committee members discussed the information, offered feedback and were encouraged to gather additional input from community members for future meetings.
