Fairfax County Public Schools’ boundary review advisory committee requested additional information as members began examining community feedback that could shape the district’s comprehensive review.

The committee met Jan. 22, 2025, at the Gatehouse Administration Center. The meeting included 41 representatives from school pyramids and 10 organization representatives.

Members reviewed feedback about the previous meeting’s norms and received follow-up materials, including complete data from the Dec. 6, 2024, meeting and guidance on roles, responsibilities, and communications.

The committee also received an overview of Policy 8130, including its revision timeline, contents, and changes made by the School Board during its 2024 work.

Thru Consulting then presented summaries covering four priority areas and an “Other” category gathered during six in-person community sessions held in 2024. Members also received scanned PDFs of the graphic organizers used at those sessions.

Committee members first examined the summaries individually and then split into groups to focus on particular priority areas. They began comparing the summaries with the scanned community-session documents but concluded that the volume of material required more review time in future meetings.

The groups drafted preliminary statements identifying other information they want to collect, along with additional analysis needed to determine whether the summaries accurately reflect the original feedback. The committee also requested data that had not yet been provided.

The Jan. 22 meeting was the committee’s third. After six virtual community meetings are completed, the consultant is expected to provide feedback data from all 12 in-person and virtual sessions.
