Nicole Warwick’s path from Fairfax County Public Schools student to senior manager of Vision and Hearing Services has placed her at the center of efforts to improve education for students with sensory impairments.

Warwick began her career as a teacher for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. After entering her leadership role in 2021, she returned to school to earn an endorsement in teaching students with visual impairments, expanding her ability to support both her team and students with hearing and vision needs.

Her work has helped strengthen service delivery, refine instructional goals, and address complex student needs. She has also advocated for greater accessibility in educational technology and instructional tools.

Working with the Office of Special Education Instruction, the Department of Information Technology, and Americans with Disabilities Act specialists, Warwick helped incorporate accessibility requirements into FCPS procurement processes. Her efforts also contributed to the creation of a dedicated accessibility specialist position.

Warwick also collaborated with the K-12 Mathematics Office and engineers at MIND Education to redesign the widely used ST Math online program for students with visual impairments. The changes have made the platform more accessible to students in FCPS and across the country.

Warwick was named a finalist for the 2024 Outstanding Nonschool-Based Professional Employee award. FCPS highlighted her work on May 20, 2025, during National Speech-Language-Hearing Month.
