Applications are open for four community seats on the Facilities Planning Advisory Council, which helps guide long-term planning for Fairfax County Public Schools buildings and other facilities.

The available positions represent the Braddock, Franconia and Mount Vernon districts, plus an at-large seat associated with McDaniel. The priority deadline is June 16, 2025.

The council advises FCPS staff and board members as they develop comprehensive facilities plans. It has 13 members: one from each Fairfax County magisterial district, three at-large representatives and one representative from the City of Fairfax.

Those selected will serve three-year terms beginning Aug. 1, 2025, and ending July 31, 2028.

FCPS is encouraging people with experience in construction, engineering, architecture, land-use planning, development, demographics, government operations or financing to apply.

Applicants for a district seat must live in the district they would represent. Any Fairfax County or City of Fairfax resident may seek the at-large position.

Applications must be submitted by email by the priority deadline.
