FCPS Serves 250 Thanksgiving Meals in One Evening

Fairfax County Public Schools served about 250 Thanksgiving-inspired meals Monday during community dinners at Herndon and Justice high schools.

Fairfax County Public Schools served about 250 Thanksgiving-inspired meals Monday during community dinners at Herndon and Justice high schools.

The first FCPS Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Herndon High drew students and their families for a free seasonal meal. Food and Nutrition Services staff served more than 150 people in one hour, while close to 100 additional meals were provided at Justice High.

Each meal included an entrée, side dishes, fresh fruits and vegetables, and dessert.

Students ate free through the Food and Nutrition Services At-Risk After School Meals Program. A donation from Educate Fairfax covered the cost of meals for adults.

The dinners were organized by Food and Nutrition Services and Educate Fairfax to bring families together and strengthen connections among homes, schools, and the wider community.
