Five Fairfax County Public Schools students have secured corporate-sponsored scholarships in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.
They are among more than 830 National Merit finalists selected for awards funded by corporations, company foundations and other business organizations.
The Fairfax County recipients and their anticipated career fields are:
- Samarth Bhargav, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, computer science — National Merit General Dynamics Corporation Scholarship.
- Claire Chen, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, academia — National Merit GEICO Scholarship.
- Jayden Lee, Langley High School, law — National Merit George Watts Hill Scholarship.
- Riley Katherine Seewer, Langley High School, law — National Merit Boeing Scholarship.
- Aileen Wu, McLean High School, finance — National Merit NVIDIA Corporation Scholarship.
Corporate sponsors offer the scholarships to finalists who are children of employees, live in communities the companies serve, or plan to pursue majors and careers the businesses want to support.
Some awards provide between $1,000 and $10,000 annually and can be renewed for up to four years of undergraduate study. Others are one-time payments ranging from $2,500 to $5,000.
Recipients may use the scholarships at any regionally accredited college or university in the United States.
