Senior Services of Alexandria will honor four residents with deep records of community involvement during its 2025 Annual Gala on Saturday, March 29.

The event will run from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Westin Alexandria Old Town. This year’s honorees are Jack Fannon, Jane King, retired Army Col. Jim Paige and Lucelle O’Flaherty.

Fannon, a fifth-generation Alexandrian, is chief operating officer of his family’s HVAC business, Thomas J. Fannon & Sons. He began his career at First Virginia Bank and later became involved in coaching and officiating youth sports while raising four children with his wife, Kelly, in the Fort Hunt area.

Now living in his childhood home in Alexandria, Fannon has continued his father’s tradition of community service. He spent six years on the Senior Services of Alexandria board, including time as president, and is a member of Alexandria Rotary. He is scheduled to become the Rotary organization’s president in July 2025.

King has lived in Alexandria for more than 40 years. After retiring from AARP, where she worked as the organization introduced its age-friendly communities initiative, she encouraged Alexandria to develop its own plan through her work on the Commission on Aging.

Alexandria subsequently became the first Virginia community admitted to AARP’s Network of Age-Friendly Communities. King has volunteered with AARP for more than 13 years, serves on the board of At Home in Alexandria and has been recognized as an Alexandria Living Legend.

Paige is a retired Army colonel whose nearly three-decade career included work in international affairs, strategic communication and senior-level operations. As executive director of the Concerned Citizens Network of Alexandria, he works to address disparities involving education, health and social justice. He also has been named an Alexandria Living Legend.

O’Flaherty comes from a three-generation Alexandria family. Since retiring, she has worked as a community liaison, photographer, reporter and Facebook editor for The Zebra Press.

She also volunteers with Meals on Wheels alongside her colleagues and is active at Trinity United Methodist Church. O’Flaherty was a founding board member and secretary of the National Center of Women’s Innovations and now serves on its Honorary Advisory Board.

The gala will feature a silent auction, dinner and dancing while marking Senior Services of Alexandria’s 57 years of helping older adults live independently and with dignity. Benchmark at Alexandria is the presenting sponsor. Tickets are available through the Senior Services of Alexandria website.
