Students looking for a productive place to work have several inviting options around McLean, Arlington and Tysons, from a renovated two-story Starbucks to a coffee shop beneath a climbing gym.

The Starbucks at 6214 Old Dominion Drive in McLean offers two spacious floors, comfortable seating, a fireplace and calming music. Recent renovations modernized the location without sacrificing its cozy atmosphere.

“It’s a great environment for studying because there’s always students focusing on homework which helps me work,” junior Eva Braccia said.

Chillzone, at 2442 N. Harrison St. in Arlington, combines a relaxed, artistic setting with platforms, couches and cushions. Its menu includes Vietnamese food and drinks such as boba.

“The seating arrangement is really unique and everyone can just relax and be in their own zone,” sophomore Violent Zimiti said.

For students who prefer fewer distractions, Dolley Madison Library at 1244 Oak Ridge Ave. in McLean provides a quiet, naturally lit environment. Dedicated study rooms, computer stations and copy machines are among the available resources.

“I love the private rooms with the glass walls, they help me lock in when I need to get work done,” senior Daniel Kim said.

Basecamp Coffee, located below the Vertical Rock climbing gym at 8461 Leesburg Pike in Tysons, features a spacious interior, varied seating and large windows. The locally owned cafe serves specialty coffee drinks, drip and iced coffee, teas and other beverages.

“I think this is a nice, beautiful, quiet place to go study and to get all those A’s,” freshman Julian Twining said.
