A new food hall near Tysons Galleria is preparing to open this summer with French-style bakery Tous les Jours as its anchor.

Luna Hall Tysons will occupy the ground floor of the office building at 8201 Greensboro Drive, replacing the former Sapphire Tysons Indian restaurant. The lineup will also include Dumpling District, Takumi Japanese Bistro and Bar, and Pelicana Korean Fried Chicken.

The concepts were created or franchised by restaurateur Zong Chen. His group is targeting a soft opening by the end of July, followed by a grand opening celebration in August if work remains on schedule.

Tous les Jours and Dumpling District are expected to open first. Takumi and Pelicana will join them later.

The Tysons bakery will be the fourth Tous les Jours franchise operated by Chen’s group, following locations in Washington’s Chinatown and Arlington’s Ballston and Pentagon City neighborhoods. The group is also developing its first two Maryland franchises in Rockville and Laurel.

Tous les Jours originated in Korea and specializes in French-inspired baked goods. Unlike the smaller operation inside Luna Hall’s Chinatown location, the Tysons shop is expected to serve the chain’s complete menu, including cakes, sandwiches, breads, pastries, coffee and other drinks.

More Restaurant Concepts Coming to Tysons

Chen’s group opened the original Luna Hall in a former Vapiano space in Chinatown in June 2023. The food hall concept has since expanded to Ellicott City and Wheaton, Maryland, pairing established brands such as Tous les Jours and Kung Fu Tea with the group’s own restaurants.

Dumpling District specializes in xiao long bao, commonly known as soup dumplings, while also offering Chinese dim sum, noodle soups and rice dishes. It has nine locations across the Washington area, but the Tysons restaurant will be only its second in Virginia after a flagship Pentagon City store opened last year.

Takumi, an upscale Japanese concept serving sushi, ramen and other dishes, will make its first expansion since debuting in Columbia, Maryland, in June 2024.

Pelicana is a Korean fried chicken chain whose only existing Virginia location is inside K Market International at 4239 John Marr Drive in Annandale.

Matt Hall, who oversees marketing for Chen’s restaurant group, said Tysons emerged as a logical next destination because of the team’s growing Arlington presence and familiarity with Northern Virginia. The group’s partners live in and grew up in the region, he said.

The Tysons food hall will be larger than its Chinatown counterpart, leaving room for additional stalls. Hall said Kung Fu Tea or a smaller dessert concept could eventually join the lineup. A bar is also planned once the food hall receives its alcohol license.

Other Tous les Jours locations operate in Annandale, Chantilly, Centreville and Burke, with another planned for Reston.
