Quickway Japanese Hibachi has opened a new restaurant in Idylwood Plaza, expanding the regional fast-casual chain’s Fairfax County footprint to seven locations.

The restaurant celebrated its grand opening June 28-29 at 7511-L Leesburg Pike. It replaces Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken, which left the storefront last summer.

Fairfax County permitting records show that approximately $26,000 was invested in renovations before the opening.

Founded in Gaithersburg, Maryland, in 2012, Quickway specializes in customizable hibachi bowls. Diners can select from five proteins and pair them with mixed vegetables, rice or noodles. Bento boxes and sushi are also on the menu.

The restaurant, located between HairSocial and MyEyeDr, is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Quickway joins several recent additions to Idylwood Plaza, including Japanese noodle shop Kajiken and daytime cafe chain First Watch. Indian restaurant Mumbai Central is expected to open this summer.

More changes are planned for the shopping center. Lidl is set to occupy part of the former Whole Foods space in late 2026, while the remainder will be divided into three smaller suites that are currently listed as available by property owner Federal Realty.

Quickway is also planning restaurants in Burke and Leesburg as part of a 15-store expansion. Founder Bob Liang said in January that the Burke Centre Shopping Center location was expected to open sometime in 2025.

Liang said the company was excited to expand its presence in Fairfax County and looked forward to opening in Burke Centre.
