IKEA will open its first full-sized Fairfax County store June 18, bringing thousands of home-furnishing products to the former Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly.

The 107,000-square-foot store is located at 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center Drive. It will be IKEA’s third Virginia location, joining its longtime Woodbridge presence and a smaller planning-focused store at Fairfax Corner.

Customers will find more than 7,700 products on display, including sofas, beds, furniture and other household goods. More than 4,400 items will be stocked for immediate purchase and take-home.

The location will also feature an “as-is” department selling gently used and discontinued merchandise. IKEA favorites such as meatballs, plant balls and hot dogs will be available for purchase.

Opening-day festivities will include giveaways, coffee and cinnamon buns. Following a ribbon cutting and remarks, the store is scheduled to welcome customers at 9:35 a.m.

IKEA U.S. interim CEO Rob Olson said the Chantilly opening marks another step toward making the company’s products more accessible as it celebrates 40 years in the greater Washington region.

The company opened a plan-and-order location at Fairfax Corner in December 2023, where customers can design projects and arrange deliveries. IKEA has operated in Woodbridge since 1985, initially inside Potomac Mills Mall and later nearby.

The Chantilly project became public after rumors surfaced last summer. The Dulles Expo Center’s closure nevertheless caught some recurring event organizers by surprise, forcing them to seek new venues.

The DMV Chocolate & Coffee Festival plans to relocate to the forthcoming DTC Expo in Sterling. Other events have moved to Manassas Mall, while some have yet to announce plans for 2026.
