Dr. Lily Talakoub has spent more than two decades combining medical dermatology, cosmetic procedures and physician education. In McLean, that experience anchors a practice designed to treat everything from chronic skin conditions to patients seeking subtle aesthetic enhancements.

Known to many patients as “Dr. Lily,” Talakoub founded McLean Dermatology & Skincare Center in 2009. Its expanded office includes more than 15 treatment rooms, dedicated cosmetic and laser suites, and private areas for high-profile clients.

The practice’s team includes board-certified dermatologists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Services cover adult and pediatric dermatology, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, hair loss, skin cancer screenings and surgery.

Cosmetic treatments include Botox, dermal fillers, IPL, fractional laser resurfacing, microneedling and other skin-rejuvenation procedures. Talakoub’s approach emphasizes facial symmetry and restrained, natural-looking results rather than dramatic changes.

Her clinical interests also include care for diverse skin types. In addition to dermatology, she is board-certified in obesity medicine and addresses skin and health concerns related to weight loss.

Training Across Leading Medical Institutions

Talakoub attended McGill University before earning both her medical degree and a Master of Public Health from Boston University School of Medicine. She graduated cum laude and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.

She completed an internal medicine residency at Stanford University and a dermatology residency at the University of California, San Francisco.

Her career has included work in the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General, academic appointments as an assistant and associate professor, and instruction for dermatology residents and physician assistants. She also trains other physicians to administer injectable treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers.

Talakoub has contributed medical commentary to dermatology publications and has appeared in outlets including Vogue, Allure and ABC News. Her honors include dermatology and surgery awards, an American Medical Association leadership award, recognition from Washingtonian, and annual “Top Doctor” selections from Northern Virginia Magazine dating to 2011.

Patient reviews frequently cite detailed explanations, attentive care and positive results for acne and persistent skin problems. Other reviews describe a busy office pace or differing expectations between medical appointments and cosmetic services—an ongoing tension for a high-volume practice offering both types of care.

The result is a team-based model that brings medical treatment, cosmetic dermatology and patient education together under one roof.
