Intercity bus service has returned to Tysons, giving Fairfax County travelers direct connections to Richmond, Baltimore and New York City from a new regional hub.
The county’s first FlixBus stop opened April 16 at Gosnell Road and Leesburg Pike. Located two blocks from the Greensboro Metro station, it also provides travelers with a connection toward Dulles International Airport.
Five coaches depart from the Tysons stop each day. Two southbound trips serve Richmond, stopping at Main Street Station and the Parham Road Park & Ride in Henrico County. The buses typically leave at 11:15 a.m. and once more in the afternoon.
Three daily northbound trips serve Bethesda, Maryland, and New York City. Additional inbound service connects Tysons with Washington.
Passengers board along the curb at Gosnell Road and Leesburg Pike. Trips may appear under either the FlixBus or Greyhound name because FlixBus acquired Greyhound in 2021.
Tickets include free Wi-Fi and access to power outlets. Only service animals recognized under the Americans with Disabilities Act are permitted aboard the buses.
The new stop has also prompted concerns about idling vehicles and crowded sidewalks along the narrow section of Gosnell Road.
