Jason Aldean balances arena-ready country rock with some of his most personal material on Songs About Us, a 20-track album set for release April 24.

Produced by Michael Knox, Aldean’s 13th album moves between celebrations of small-town life and reflections on the bright city lights he has encountered while touring. The result stays close to his established sound while showing a willingness to explore more vulnerable subjects.

The album begins at full volume with “Anytime Soon,” a rock-influenced highway anthem. “Don’t Tell on Me” carries forward that carefree energy, placing electric guitar prominently in the arrangement.

The quieter songs provide the record’s emotional center. “Help You Remember” draws on Aldean’s experiences with relatives facing dementia, giving the album one of its most intimate moments.

On “How Far Does a Goodbye Go,” Aldean considers the uncertainty surrounding a breakup and whether a farewell has truly become permanent. He gets personal again on “Easier Gone,” a duet with his wife, Brittany Aldean, whose presence brings an added sense of authenticity to the song.

Aldean also revisits the 1994 country hit “Dust on the Bottle” with its original performer, David Lee Murphy. Their collaboration remains faithful to the familiar song while giving it renewed energy.

Songs About Us does not attempt to reinvent Aldean. Instead, it refines the blend of loud country anthems and heartfelt storytelling that has driven his career. Its unusually large track list also suggests he has no intention of easing his pace.
