Justice High School reopened on time for students and staff Wednesday, Feb. 11, after a gas leak prompted an early dismissal the previous day.
An odor of gas was detected at the school on Tuesday, Feb. 10. While the problem was investigated, the gas company shut off all electrical power and generators at the building.
The Fire Department responded to the scene to help ensure the safety of students and employees. School officials then dismissed Justice High students early, with details about the release process sent directly to families by text message, email, and phone.
The early dismissal applied only to Justice High School and did not affect students at other schools.
In an update issued the following day, Superintendent Michelle C. Reid said the leak had been repaired overnight and power had been restored. Justice High returned to normal operations and opened at its regular time Wednesday.
