Lake Braddock High School alumnus Matthew Hibner is headed to the NFL after the Baltimore Ravens selected him with the 33rd pick of the fourth round in this year’s draft.
“I had a feeling that Baltimore might be the place,” Hibner said during an on-camera interview after the draft. “I’m so looking forward to it, I can’t wait.”
Hibner, who wore No. 88 for the Bruins, graduated in 2020 before playing college football at the University of Michigan and, most recently, for the SMU Mustangs. Lake Braddock went 10-3 during his time on the varsity team.
His achievements extended beyond football. Hibner earned straight A’s, posted a 4.3 GPA and scored 1400 on the SAT while attending Lake Braddock. He also became an Eagle Scout.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound player brings versatility as both a receiver and blocker. Baltimore expects those skills to make him a useful part of offensive coordinator Declan Doyle’s system and create difficult matchups for opposing defenses.
Hibner follows another Fairfax County high school standout into the professional ranks. Robinson High School alumnus Tristan Leigh was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2021.
