Langley captured the inaugural girls Liberty District wrestling tournament championship behind four individual titles and a field-leading 10 competitors.

The Saxons scored 121.5 points to finish ahead of Marshall, which placed second with 102. McLean took third with 58 points, while host Herndon finished fourth with 52.

The tournament featured 41 wrestlers across 12 weight classes ranging from 100 to 235 pounds. Marshall and McLean entered seven wrestlers apiece, while some schools sent individual competitors without fielding full teams.

All four Langley champions finished with 2-0 records. Sophia Song won the 100-pound division with a pin and a technical fall. Andy Woosley claimed the 120-pound title with two pins, while Nicole Bobek at 126 and Mia Cardenas at 152 also secured championships with two pins each.

Riley Wallace finished second at 138 pounds, and Bianca Cerezo Mendez was the runner-up at 145. Anya Tong placed third at 114, and Advithi Mogi took third at 185. Navi Ddidam finished fourth at 107, while Lauren Toussaint placed fourth at 132.

Marshall also produced four undefeated champions. Jennah ElBardicy won at 107 pounds, Ava Wise took the 138-pound title, Lelena Yitbarek prevailed at 165 and Kade McKeever won at 185. Eleanor Webster finished second at 120, and Ashley Juarez-Lopez was second at 165.

McLean’s Lillian Kilgore won the 118-pound championship with two pins. Sarah Romero placed second at 107, Kaelyn Mackay finished second at 118 and Olivia Bauer was the runner-up at 126.

Herndon earned two individual titles, with Luz Avila Lopez winning at 145 pounds and Eja Gatewood taking the 235-pound division.

The girls region wrestling tournament is scheduled to begin Friday, Jan. 31, at Hayfield Secondary School. The Virginia High School League will hold its girls state open tournament at the end of February.
