Link Logistics has submitted a final development plan for Signature Park, a publicly accessible urban park planned for Block E of The Mile in Tysons at 7925 Jones Branch Drive.
The proposal details a comprehensive mix of outdoor amenities on land currently occupied by a seven-story office building constructed in 1981. The park would span roughly 5 acres and include a 36,000-square-foot lawn capable of hosting youth soccer fields, community events and informal recreation. Two flexible hard-surface sports pitches would accommodate futsal, basketball and floor hockey, while a 16,000-square-foot playground with accessible equipment would serve multiple age groups.
The plan also includes a Crossroads Plaza covering 4,250 square feet, designed with a stage for concerts, farmers markets and other community events. An approximately 1,040-square-foot cafe with public restrooms, a food-truck area, picnic gardens and pavilions would provide visitor amenities. Overlooks and terraced seating would offer amphitheater-style viewing of the lawn.
A 10-foot-wide section of the planned 4.75-mile Tysons Community Circuit trail would run along the park’s southern edge, adjacent to the future Mile Avenue connecting Westbranch and Jones Branch drives.
Link Logistics is seeking revisions to zoning that would permit townhouses on three surrounding blocks as an alternative to the multifamily residential buildings originally contemplated. The design could allow some park elements to be delivered during an initial construction phase on the townhouse blocks, with full park completion expected to occur alongside development of Block F, which could include offices, a hotel or multifamily housing.
The proposed Signature Park is a centerpiece of The Mile, which was approved by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in 2019 as a roughly 3-million-square-foot redevelopment of the 38-acre Westpark Business Campus. The original plan included a 5,000-square-foot retail kiosk in the park. As of late July, county planning staff had not yet accepted the final development plan for formal review.
Link Logistics proposes more than 10 acres of publicly accessible urban park space across The Mile, with Signature Park as the principal park. To date, only Brentford at the Mile has been completed among the residential buildings, while much of the property remains occupied by offices and parking lots.
Attorney Robert Brant, representing Link Logistics, said in a statement that the firm would “continue to collaborate with the County to refine this vision and advance the design of the park prior to its construction.”
The townhouse-related rezoning application is scheduled for Fairfax County Planning Commission review on October 28 and a Board of Supervisors hearing on November 17.
