Madison High School graduate Connor Barry turned a strong sophomore season at Christopher Newport University into two major honors.
The Captains’ starting quarterback earned first-team all-conference recognition and was named the commonwealth’s Quarterback of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Richmond.
Barry completed 68 percent of his passes while averaging 195 passing yards per game. Across 10 games, he completed 130 passes for 1,950 yards and 15 touchdowns, with only two interceptions. He also ran for four scores.
His performance helped the Division III Captains finish 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
Barry appeared in nine games as a freshman at Christopher Newport, making three starts. He completed 42 of 74 passes for 745 yards and five touchdowns while adding 150 rushing yards.
He began his college career at Division I Appalachian State in 2022. Barry participated in a spring game but did not appear during the ensuing regular season before eventually transferring to Christopher Newport.
At Madison, Barry led the Warhawks to two 6D North Region championships and a runner-up finish in the Virginia High School League Class 6 state tournament. He received first-team all-district and all-region honors along with second-team all-state recognition.
Barry also played varsity baseball at Madison and served as a team captain.
