Maggiano’s Little Italy is set to return to Tysons with a June 15 opening at Tysons Corner Center, following a preview at the mall’s Taste of Tysons festival on May 16.
The Italian restaurant is relocating from Tysons Galleria, where it closed in September. Construction has been underway since last fall in the east end of Tysons Corner Center.
A large Maggiano’s sign has gone up near the Coastal Flats entrance, while the removal of construction coverings has revealed a brick exterior and new double doors. Fairfax County permits show the restaurant will occupy about 17,708 square feet on the first floor in space formerly used by Brio and La Sandia.
Known for family-style servings of pasta, salads, steak and seafood, the Dallas-based chain operated at Tysons Galleria from the mid-1990s until its closure. It is following the Cheesecake Factory across Route 123 to Tysons Corner Center. Maggiano’s only other Northern Virginia restaurant is at Springfield Town Center.
Taste of Tysons returns May 16
The fourth annual Taste of Tysons will run from noon to 3 p.m., with Maggiano’s joining more than 40 eateries offering samples from noon to 1 p.m.
Another newcomer, Hershey Super Sweet Adventure, will participate after opening at the mall on April 24.
Other confirmed participants include &Pizza, Bento Box, Cha Street Food, Chef Lin, China Kitchen, Chip City Cookies, Cinnabon, Dhoom, Haagen Dazs, Istanbul Kitchen, Matcha Cafe, Moge Tee, Mo’s Fried Chicken, Naan & Beyond, Olivia Macaron, Shake Shack, Shilla Bakery, Shotted Coffee and Soricha.
Visitors can collect a “Passport to Delicious” at PenFed Plaza and receive stamps from participating eateries. Completed passports offer entry into a drawing for gift cards from Eddie V’s, Earls Kitchen and Bar, Barrel & Bushel and Seasons 52.
After the sampling period, activities will move to the Plaza for live cooking demonstrations, giveaways and music from Baltimore-based band Risky Shenanigans.
The festival will also feature interactive attractions throughout the mall, including a PenFed Credit Union racing-themed pop-up with a driving simulator, snacks, giveaways and a close look at a Porsche 911 Cup Car. The experience draws on PenFed’s support for professional driver Sabré Cook in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America series.
Taste of Tysons is free, but adults can purchase a $30 VIP ticket for an exclusive PenFed Plaza lounge offering complimentary food and drink pairings from selected restaurants. Participants include Barrel & Bushel, Eddie V’s, Earls, Nordstrom Café + Ebar and Seasons 52.
VIP admission will be sold in advance and on the day of the festival on a first-come, first-served basis. Proceeds will benefit Food for Others, a Merrifield nonprofit that collects and distributes food to people in need.
