A Harrisonburg man who allegedly presented himself as a pastor is being held without bond in Fairfax County after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her during an in-person counseling session in Merrifield.
Marco Antonio Ocampos Zamora, 36, reportedly met the woman online and traveled to Merrifield after she agreed to a counseling session believing he was a pastor. The woman told detectives she was sexually assaulted during the meeting, according to Fairfax County police.
The alleged assault occurred in the 2700 block of Prosperity Avenue last November. It was reported to law enforcement on Dec. 16.
Harrisonburg police arrested Ocampos Zamora at his home on Feb. 27. He was extradited to Fairfax County on Wednesday, March 4.
Ocampos Zamora faces one felony count of object sexual penetration and one felony count of abduction with intent to defile. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Fairfax County General District Court on May 18.
Victim specialists with the police department’s Major Crimes Bureau have been assigned to help the woman access resources and assistance.
