Marshall Statesmen runners captured the girls and boys championships at a high school track-and-field meet featuring Fairfax County teams at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center in Arlington.

The Marshall girls finished with 86 points, while the boys totaled 82.

Four Marshall girls won individual races. Isabella Gervase took the 55-meter hurdles in 10.11 seconds, Emelia Diccolo won the 55-meter dash in 8.50, Maya Lang claimed the 500 in 1:32.22 and Julia Friefeld prevailed in the 1,600 in 6:23.32. Olivia Critchfield added a runner-up finish in the 500.

Marshall’s boys earned three victories. Elijah Smith won the 55-meter hurdles in 9.2 seconds, Kanuux Chaudhuri took the 55-meter dash in 6.71 and Jonathan Peed finished first in the 1,000 in 3:10.33. George Owino placed second in the 55-meter dash, and Colin Frizell was runner-up in the 55-meter hurdles.

Marshall also competed at the Liberty Premier Invitational at Liberty University in Lynchburg. Samantha Dabich placed sixth in the 1,600 with a time of 5:21.82 and eighth in the 500 in 1:23.13.

Several other Fairfax County athletes won events at the Arlington meet. Among the boys, Mount Vernon’s Luis Montoya won the 500 in 1:19.98, Edison’s Oliver Kennelly took the 1,600 in 5:23.13, Edison’s Adam Pulis cleared 6 feet to win the high jump and Woodson’s Barrett Pullen won the shot put with a throw of 53 feet, 6 inches.

Girls champions included Edison’s Lilah Spearman in the 55-meter dash at 8.44 seconds and Chantilly’s Ava Benevento in the 1,000 at 3:33.3. Annandale’s Ta’niy Peterkin won the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches, while teammate Joelle Brew-Riverson claimed the shot put with a mark of 32 feet, 6 inches.
