McLean High School’s History Honors Society is closing out the semester with nearly 150 active members and a growing record of volunteer work, educational projects and participation in national commemorations.
Senior Zoe Adams-Christian said members became involved in political volunteering during Virginia’s gubernatorial election. They also participated in Wreaths Across America, placing wreaths on the graves of deceased U.S. service members.
The society has supported McLean’s history department by producing dozens of study resources and historical infographics. Adams-Christian said the materials help teachers plan lessons while giving students tools to study and prepare for tests.
Next, the group plans to visit the Library of Congress on Friday, March 13. President Jane Hirschberg, a senior, said the society will also resume study sessions closer to exam season.
Hirschberg said the organization’s accomplishments and progress have left her optimistic about the next two quarters and eager to finish the second half of the school year strongly.
