McLean’s History Honors Society closed the third quarter by expanding its collection of free study materials and taking its annual educational trip to the Library of Congress.

Members created infographics, notes, Quizlets and Kahoots for students preparing for classroom tests and upcoming Advanced Placement exams. The resources cover history courses ranging from regular to AP levels and are also available to teachers.

“Our members created a ton of history infographics and study materials to help people prepare for their tests and for upcoming AP exams,” said senior Zoe Adams-Christian, the society’s director of operations.

The work gives members a way to support McLean’s wider school community while strengthening the History Department’s pool of shared academic resources.

The society also visited the Library of Congress, where students viewed the main reading room and some obtained reader identification cards that will allow them to return and use the library in the future.

Senior Alisha Seth called that opportunity both useful and exciting. For students interested in government and public policy, the visit also offered a closer look at the institutions where federal work takes place.

“I think it’s really inspiring to see the places where the government operates day-to-day, and places where important decisions are made,” senior Maria Avazyan said.

As the final quarter approaches and AP exam season draws closer, the society plans to continue expanding its support for history students and staff. Adams-Christian said much of the group’s success so far has come from its study materials, which members hope will help even more students during AP preparation.
