Dr. Ellen Reilly, principal of McLean High School since 2012, has been appointed Fairfax County Public Schools’ new assistant superintendent for Instructional Services.
Reilly has worked in FCPS for 25 years, beginning as an instructional assistant serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing. She later became an assistant principal at Oakton High School and Herndon High School before taking McLean’s top administrative post.
During her tenure at McLean, Reilly expanded Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment opportunities. That work included introducing AP Precalculus, which recorded a 98.6% pass rate.
Reilly also has held several divisionwide leadership positions. She served as the lead principal for grading and reporting, president of the FCPS High School Principals’ Association and chair of the Instructional Services/Instructional Technology Committee.
Her new role will bring her school-level experience to the department responsible for instructional services across FCPS.
