Peter Chang’s downtown McLean restaurant has added a compelling reason to visit: all-you-can-eat dim sum for $28 per person, available daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Four hungry high school students arrived eager to test the offer’s limits. Unlike traditional dim sum restaurants, however, there were no carts circulating through the dining room. Servers carried each order from the kitchen, making it harder to sample large quantities quickly.

The meal began with fish dishes and several plates of Mongolian beef before expanding to rice, noodles and an assortment of meats. The food remained delicious, but service slowed as the orders piled up. Plates reached the table less frequently despite repeated requests for faster service.

Certain standouts made the delays easier to overlook, particularly the black sesame egg yolk buns. Eventually, though, the group left with some requested dishes still outstanding.

For diners more interested in a leisurely family brunch than an endurance-eating challenge, the deal offers strong value and an affordable opportunity to explore a wide selection of Chinese dishes. Just don’t expect every plate to arrive quickly.
