Metro will revise nearly 50 bus routes across Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia beginning Sunday, June 21, promising more reliable service and stronger regional connections.
In the District, the C91 and D24 will join the Frequent Service Network, operating every 20 minutes or better from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Metro will also expand service on the C35, C57, D6X and D72.
Maryland’s P96 will begin serving Heather Hill Apartments via Fisher Road.
In Virginia, the A1X will move to the new Pentagon City transitway beginning Sunday, July 5. Metro will also expand rush-hour service along Columbia Pike and Carling Springs Road on the A49 and A76. The A49 will start operating earlier each day, while A76 buses will arrive every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes.
Schedule adjustments and other changes will affect these routes:
- District of Columbia: C11, C13, C17, C25, C26, C31, C33, C35, C43, C57, C63, C81, C83, C85, C87, C91, D10, D1X, D20, D24, D32, D4X, D50, D5X, D6X, D72 and D94.
- Maryland: M12, P14, P1X, P31, P35, P61, P96 and P97.
- Virginia: A1X, A11, A27, A29, A40, A49, A66, A76, F20, F44, F50, F60, F61 and F85.
The D10 and D1X will be detoured during the summer because of road closures connected to events marking America’s 250th anniversary.
More frequent rush-hour trains
Rail changes will follow on Sunday, June 28. Red Line trains will operate at least every four minutes for a longer stretch of the busiest weekday rush-hour periods.
That added frequency will pause during scheduled summer construction from July 6 through Sept. 6.
On the Blue, Orange and Silver lines, trains will run at least every nine minutes in the peak direction during the busiest portions of weekday rush hours.
Riders can check route-specific schedules, plan trips and obtain real-time information through Metro’s website or Metro Pulse app. Service alerts are also available by text or email through MetroAlerts.
