A man has been charged with second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of a woman at a Hybla Valley bus stop, while competing plans to overhaul Dulles International Airport are getting attention at the White House.
Fairfax County police arrested a man previously identified as a person of interest in the death of Stephanie Minter, 41, of Fredericksburg. Officers found Minter with multiple stab wounds to her upper body on Monday, Feb. 23.
President Donald Trump met with roughly half a dozen infrastructure and construction companies earlier in February to consider proposals for redesigning Dulles. Executives presented their ideas to Trump and Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy in the Oval Office. Another meeting was held Wednesday, Feb. 25, for updated proposals.
A 54-year-old Canadian man was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in federal prison after admitting that he traveled from Toronto to Virginia in June 2025 intending to have sex with a minor. He had communicated online with someone he believed was a 15-year-old girl, but the person was an undercover Fairfax County police detective.
Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger used the Democratic response to Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday, Feb. 24, to focus on affordability. During her 12-minute remarks following the president’s 107-minute speech, she accused his administration of increasing housing, health care, energy and grocery costs while creating instability at home and abroad.
Reagan National Airport handled just under 24.9 million passengers in 2025, its lowest annual total in three years. That represented a 5.3% decline from 26.3 million passengers in 2024, according to figures released Tuesday by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. Dulles, meanwhile, set an annual passenger record.
Langley High School students Sophie Li and Lily Zhang are addressing inequities affecting children in Fairfax County. The pair launched the Rising Star Fund as sophomores two years ago, creating a nonprofit that supports students at Title I schools by funding summer camps, after-school activities and new equipment.
